GCDS is using DreamBox Learning Math in grades 1-5. DreamBox is a rigorous and highly adaptive math curriculum that students access online or on an iPad. It meets the educational needs of each individual learner, adjusting and re-adjusting in the moment as they engage in a fun learning environment. DreamBox improves students’ mathematical fluency by helping them to derive strategies using multiple, varied models and building on what they already know. It is an excellent complement to the instruction students are receiving in their classrooms.

Student Access

Your child can access DreamBox Learning Math from a desktop or laptop by logging in through the GCDS portal:

https://play.dreambox.com/login/u9vj/

Because DreamBox is an online program, there is no software to download. All you need is a high-speed Internet connection and Adobe Flash.

Username: Your child's email address (i.e. gkepler27@gcds.net)

Password: gcds

iPad Access

To access DreamBox on an iPad, go to http://www.dreambox.com/ipad, or search for “DreamBox Math” in the App Store.

When prompted, enter the appropriate school code:

Lower Elementary: u9vj/mzm6

Upper Elementary: u9vj/k4z4

If you have the app installed already, you may need to uninstall and reinstall it to use the new codes listed above.

Tips for Home Usage

1. Encourage completion of every lesson that is started. Mistakes are OK. Your child should not shy away from incorrect answers, as they help find the right lesson to build learning progress. Regularly abandoning lessons before they are completed will impact the accuracy of DreamBox’s ongoing assessment.

2. We know it’s difficult, but please resist the urge to help with answers so that your child doesn’t move ahead before he or she is truly ready.
